I am commanded by the Army Council to refer to your letter of 31st July 1923, No. 35456/23 regarding the valuation of Military landa in Hong Kong. The position has been informally discussed between representatives of the Colonial Office and the War Office, and the Council will be glad if you will cable to the Governor of Hong Kong on the lines of the enclosed draft. In accordance with the arrangements made by your Department advantage was taken of Sir Claud Severn's presence in London to explain to him the War Department's views and to show him the draft cable to Hong Kong forwarded with this letter.
